Our Work

The Akshaya Patra Foundation has evolved and adapted over the last two decades, enhancing its feeding initiatives and introducing non-feeding endeavors to boost the impact of our core initiative, the school feeding programme. Children's overall development and welfare are central to all our endeavors. Through these initiatives, we seek to contribute towards a world where children do not have to choose between food and education; they have the best of both.

Feeding Programmes

  • PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal Scheme): Provides nutritious meals to children studying in government and government-aided schools, covering primary to secondary classes in some states.
  • ICDS Anganwadi Feeding Programme: Targets pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children aged 0-6 years, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
  • Breakfast Programme: Aims to address short-term hunger among school children, enhancing their concentration levels in classrooms.
  • Food Assistance: Utilizes kitchen infrastructure for humanitarian relief during adversities, including disaster relief efforts.
  • Feeding Homeless Mothers: Provides cooked meals to homeless women vulnerable to hunger, particularly in regions like Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh.

Non-feeding Programmes

  • National Endeavour for Student Transformation (NEST): Includes initiatives like Digital Education to bridge the digital divide and provide quality educational resources to economically weaker sections.
  • Scholarship Programme: Offers financial assistance to meritorious students from challenging socio-economic backgrounds to support their higher education aspirations.
  • School Rejuvenation Programme: Focuses on creating a conducive learning environment by improving infrastructural facilities in schools.

Through these comprehensive programmes, The Akshaya Patra Foundation strives to address classroom hunger, promote education, and support the holistic development of children across India.
